Many-banded Daggerwing (Butterfly)

Captured this image of a butterfly while visiting the Garden of the Amazon, Brazil. I thought that I would share it for your enjoyment.

Dragonfly

The ponds at the Garden of the Amazon attracted dragonflies and I was able to capture this image of one, with the skin from its nymph stage attached to the lower side of the flower.

Sulphur (Butterfly)

At first glance this is a yellow butterfly, but on closer inspection we see that it is also green. Image captured at Oscar Scherer State Park, Florida, USA, while walking the trails.

Zebra Swallowtail on Goldenrod

There are a large number of Goldenrod plants in the Florida Scrub at Oscar Scherer State Park, Florida, USA, and it provides a great feeding place for Zebra Swallowtails such as this one.

Queen

The Queen Butterfly often misidentified as a Monarch. Like the Monarch the Queen feeds on Milkweed which contains a toxic chemical that makes the them very distastasteful to predators. Image captured while visiting Lake Louisa State Park, Florida.
