Sarasota, Florida

This image was captured while visiting Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in July of 2016. I find the image interesting because the cloud formations in the background show the typical coastal weather in Florida, It was late morning and the heat of the day was building, causing the winds to come off the Gulf on the left while the moist air is carried aloft building rain clouds over the land as seen on the right. I have included two images one framed and one without a frame for your viewing pleasure.

Barges and Towboat Leaving Lock 12

While visiting Bellevue, Iowa we had the opportunity to watch a Towboat and its barges finishing going through Lock 12 and watched it depart to continue its trip down the Mississippi River.

Apalachicola Fishing Fleet

This is the fleet of fishing boats that operate out of Apalachicola, Florida. We were lucky to see so many boats tied up instead of out fishing.

Houses on the River (Apalachicola)

These floating homes do not have motors so they are not considered boats. You can see two of the pilings that hold the home permanently in place along the bank. If you are interested you can actually rent one for a stay in Apalachicola, Florida.

Canal Boat crossing Pontcysyllte Aqueduct

This is an HDR image of our canal boat crossing the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, traveling to Chirk  from Llangollen, on the Llangollen Canal, in Wales. The 11 foot wide aqueduct was completed in 1805, crossing 126 feet above the River Dee.(Images captured May 2011)

Baranof Lake

On Baranof Island, Alaska, you can hike up a trail from Warm Springs Bay to Baranof Lake. Water from the lake flows down a waterfall to the bay. There are no roads to the lake so the boat and motor had to be carried up a trail to get to the lake. (HDR Image)
