American Snout (Butterfly)

While on a visit to Texas Ornithological Society (TOS) Sabine Woods for a little bird watching we saw many of these butterflies, but they were always on the move. Finally one of them stopped to sun itself and I managed to capture this image.Butterfly on a branch

Northern Harrier Hunting

The Harrier hunts its prey by flying close to the ground cover in search of a tasty morsel, then diving down to capture it. This female was cruising just above the grasses of the wetlands at Sea Rim State Park, Texas when I captured this image.Northern Harrier hunting

Northern Harrier

This morning we hiked the boardwalk thought the wetlands at Sea Rim State Park, Texas. This Northern Harrier performed a flyby looking for food and I managed to capture this image. I am rather pleased with the results and wanted to share it with you.Northern Harrier in flight

Boat-tailed Grackle (Female)

Recently arrived in Texas and stopped at Sea Rim State Park on the Gulf Coast. While walking the beach early this morning we saw this Boat-tailed Grackle posing for an image. The male is black and shiny and not as interesting as the female.

Sunrise at the Boardwalk (Apalachicola, Florida)

This boardwalk is where the Apalachicola River enters the bay and it can be a beautiful place at sunrise as seen here. I have been playing around with Photoshop and thought I would present you two very different renditions of the same image. One is the more traditional the second is a painted effect. Which do you prefer?

Sunrise at the City Dock (Apalachicola, Florida)

Started an early morning walk in hopes of catching some interesting sunrise images. I thought that this one of a shrimp boat at the City Dock in Apalachicola showed off the nature of the morning.
