What is going on over there?

This Wood Thrush was searching for food in the woods when I captured this image. He seems to be peaking into the shadow on the left to see what might be there. When we went to enter this bird in eBird it was not among the species seen in this area so we had it confirmed by BirdForum prior to submission that included an image. If incorrectly ID I will change it to the correct bird.Wood Thrush
