On an evening walk at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park we saw a large number of butterflies flitting about in the grass along the road. Captured this image of what we believe is a Horace’s Duskywing Skipper on a Frog Fruit blossom.

We were out watching bats flying across the lawn at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park when someone in the group spotted a great horned owl. While we were watching the owl it moved several times and I was able to capture this image. There are three versions of the image displayed. The one on the left gives you an idea of what the owl looked like to us, you might not see it in this version when you look. The center image is zoomed in a bit to narrow the area that you must search to see the owl. The right image is zoomed in much closer and I have darkened the owl so it shows up better in the image. Starting from the right you should be able to work to the right and see the owl in all three images. When the owl turns its head away from looking at us it virtually disappears into the background.

The temperatures have gone up in the evenings so when we went for a walk at Stephen Foster State Park the butterflies were very active. This butterfly is between 1/2 to 1 inch in size so it is easily missed and difficult to get close to for an image capture. Captured this image of a Phaon Crescent to share with you.

Early one evening the birds around our campsite began making a lot of noise and we looked up into a tree next to our camper and saw this Hawk. He was under attack by Blue Jays and was watching for them when this image was captured.

Icon showing St. George and the youth of Mytilene (About 1250)
The icon depicts a legend about a Christian youth enslaved by Muslims on the island of Crete. As the boy was about to serve his master a glass of wine he was miraculously rescued by St. George and transported back to his homeland. He is shown here behind the saint, still holding the glass.

Tritons and dolphin fountain Trafalgar Square, February 22, 2013. It was a very cold day, supposedly the coldest winter in 50 years. Since few of you will ever see this sight, I thought that I would share it with you.

In many of the historical novels that I read the characters visit the Admiralty in London to get there orders and directives. I had never seen the building so it was a great pleasure to capture this image and share it with you.
