Panting Heron in wetlands

While visiting Egan’s Creek Greenway, Fernandina Beach, Florida we spotted this Little Blue Heron standing on a snag in the wetlands. It was panting like a dog, this image shows it with its mouth open and its tongue out, similar to a dog on a hot day. I didn’t realize that birds panted to cool off, so I thought it was an interesting discovery.Little Blue Heron on a snag

Image captured while visiting Musselburgh, Scotland. I like this image because it shows the environment where we normally see the Meadow Pipet. The soft yellowish green and brown grass makes a perfect hiding place and a wonderful background.

Shortly after the image was captured the mature woodpecker fed the immature woodpecker. Unfortunately I did not capture a good image of the feeding.Pair of Pileated Woodpeckers

On an early morning visit to Princes Street Gardens managed to capture this image of a Yellow Rose and a bit of the flower bed around it. I think this gives you a feel for the beauty that surrounds you as you walk through the gardens.Yellow Rose side view
