Wooden Dragon Head

While walking the path around Linlithgow Loch we saw a wooden dragon, this is it’s head. I think it is interesting, especially with the plants used for the eyes.Dragon HeadImage captured using a Nikon D300S camera, Nikon 300 mm f/2.8 lens with a 1.7 teleconverter for a focal length of 500 mm, ISO 400, Exposure 1/640 sec at f/8.0, hand held.

What walks underwater and flies

The White-throated Dipper feeds in the running water of streams and I have seen them actually walking underwater in search of food. This is an image of an immature Dipper that I captured while walking along the Water of Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland.White-throated Dipper (Imature)

Mary Queen of Scots was born . . .

Mary Queen of Scots was born at Linlithgow Palace, Scotland. The palace ruins with the still active St Michael’s Church in the background is pictured below. Visiting the castle  and the adjacent loch is a nice day trip from Edinburgh, Scotland by train that I would recommend to everyone.Linlithgow Palace

Dwarfed by Edinburgh Castle

While visiting Princes Street Gardens in Edinburgh I capture this image of Lydia and the Castle. I think the image helps understand how large the castle is and how it dominates the skyline.Princes Street Gardens

Purple and Gold

While visiting the Shetland Islands we went to Jubilee Flower Garden, it was a riot of color with blooming flowers. It was the usual windy day making photographing flowers difficult and required fast shutter speeds to get sharp images. To create this image I stacked two images to provide a greater depth of field than could be achieved with a single image.Purple and Gold
